BOSTON -- A funnel cloud was observed over Barrington, R.I. yesterday afternoon, which prompted the a tornado warning late yesterday afternoon over a portion of SE Ma. However, it does not appear that a tornado touched down.

More torrential rain occurring across our area today.

A FLOOD WATCH is posted for all of NH and MA except for Barnstable county through late tonight. A slow moving cold front is producing very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Rainfall totals will reach 2-5" with isolated amounts of 6-8" in western and central MA.

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY is posted for southern Bristol county, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and southern RI until tomorrow morning. A strong southerly fetch will build seas up to 8 feet with strong rip currents possible.

Today will be humid with temperatures in the upper 70's. A little sunshine is possible but that will only help to fuel any thunderstorms. The front will clear our area from west to east during the day and into the night. That means Cape Cod will be the last to receive the heaviest rain and will most likely receive the least amount of rain as well.

Skies clear early tomorrow leading to a mostly sunny afternoon, less humid with temperatures in the mid 80's.

This improved weather will last into Saturday, but a few thunderstorms cannot be ruled out Saturday night or Sunday.
