During each semester of the school year and the summer vacation period, WCVB-TV offers approximately 11 internships in the News Department for the weekday and weekend news. Students interested in doing an internship on the Weekend News are expected to commit eight hours a day on Saturday and Sunday.

Weekend Interns duties include:

Learns news computer system and helps read wires for potential story ideas

Helps producer, anchors and reporters in retrieving archive material

Assists assignment desk in doing beat check with various police and fire departments and follow up on story updates.

Distributes news formats and scripts.

Opportunity to write and edit stories for newscasts.

Learns various aspects of producing newscasts.
