During each semester of the school year and the summer vacation period, WCVB-TV offers approximately 11 internships in the News Department. Interns are expected to work four hours a day depending on their school schedules, they can work for two, three or five days per week. Students interested in doing an internship on the Weekend News are expected to commit eight hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. Students may also intern in Sports, Consumer Reports, the Web site and the Assignment Desk.

Intern's duties include:

  • Makes telephone inquires to police, fire stations, and other officials to check stories.
  • Assists in script preparation and graphics coordination.
  • May write limited material for air on early morning newscasts or weekends.
  • Distributes news formats and collects identification supers/chyrons for reporters.
  • Pull video from news feeds and archives.
