Celtics Legend Bounced From Broadcast Booth

Bob Cousy Fired After 34 Years

Boston Celtics legend Bob Cousy has been bounced from the Celtics broadcast booth, the Worcester Telegram reported Friday.

Cousy, 80, had worked as a television analyst for Celtics games for 34 years.

Comcast SportsNet made the decision, Cousy said.

"Some low-level executive called me," Cousy told the newspaper. "Basically said that they decided to do two-man booths and they no longer needed my services. I said thank you very much, have a good year and I hung up on him."

"The Celtics, in my judgment, said and did all the right things," Cousy said. "Comcast can hire or fire anyone they want. But after 34 years, I thought I needed a little more handling."

Comcast said play-by-play will be handled by Mike Gorman. Celtics legend Tommy Heinsohn, 74, will provide game analysis for home games. Donny Marshall will replace Heinsohn for away telecasts.
