Jets QB Ainge Suspended Four Games By NFL

POSTED: 7:30 pm EST November 21, 2008

(Sports Network) - New York Jets rookie quarterback Erik Ainge has been suspended by the NFL for four game on Thursday for violating the league's policy on steroids and related substances.

Placed on injured reserve late in October with a right foot injury, Ainge will not be allowed to be with the team or attend its facility during the suspension. He will be eligible to rejoin the team following New York's December 15 game against Buffalo.

A fifth-round pick from Tennessee, he was inactive for the first seven games of the season before injuring his foot.

He is the second Jets player to be suspended for violating the league's steroids policy as running back Jesse Chatman was banned for the first four games of the season.
