SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Two people were killed Monday when a small plane crashed a half-mile southeast of the runway at North Central State Airport in Smithfield, authorities said.Authorities could not immediately identify a man's body, said Jim Peters, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. NewsCenter 5 has learned that another person has died in the crash, but an identity was not immediately released.The aircraft, a Piper PA-32, left T.F. Green Airport in Warwick and was headed north to the smaller facility in Smithfield. The crash was reported just after 5 p.m.Firefighters were sorting through the wreckage Monday night. The plane was registered to Robert A. Zoglio Jr., of Richmond.
