Cleanup continued Monday on Interstate 195 in Swansea after a tanker truck rolled over Sunday spilling more than 8,500 gallons of gasoline on the highway.

The Cape Cod gas driver, Kim Kilbreth, 55, suffered minor injuries in the crash after losing control of the vehicle.

NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that two lanes were open on the road near the Swansea Mall exit, but there is still a considerable amount of work to be done cleaning up the spill.

The gasoline did not leak into the water supply, but it did affect nearby wetlands, where crews were still working to secure the area.

A blanket of flame-retardent foam was sprayed on the gasoline after the truck, which was carrying a total of 12,500 gallons of gas, rolled about 5:45 a.m. on Sunday on Route 195 east and the road was closed for several hours.

Drivers faced one to three hour backups.

"To me the biggest danger was I almost ran out of gas because I was stuck in traffic so long," one driver said.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. It was unclear whether the truck driver would be charged in connection with the spill.
