SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Most state fairs always seem to come up with some sort of new gut-busting new edible concoction each year. And the California State Fair is no exception, reported KCRA-TV.Deep-fried Twinkies and Krispy Kreme chicken sandwiches have long tempted those with iron stomachs. But this year a fry cook named Chicken Charlie seems to have outdone himself by offering deep-fried Coca-Cola, a mix of batter, soda syrup and who knows what else.
The fair opened Friday and will continue at Sacramento's Cal Expo through Sept. 3.The annual event includes live entertainment, farm animals, a midway and many other attractions.Among those reveling in the opening was Charlie, who is clearly proud of the new spin on Coke."I love to cook, I love Coke, I love the fairs," he said.So how does the cake-like Coke taste? Two of three randomly selected teenagers said they liked it, while the third just made a face after trying the treat."That's really good," said one teen, who dove in for a second bite."It tastes like fried soda," added another teen. "I swear, it's good!"
